Nora Kory, PhD
Assistant Professor of Molecular Metabolism

Nora is originally from Heidelberg, Germany, and completed her studies in Chemistry and Biochemistry in Munich before coming to the US for her PhD and postdoc. She has had a long-standing interest in understanding the spatial organization of metabolism, originating from wanting to visualize what metabolism actually looks like. Nora loves art, in particular music, and is a passionate singer.


Hannah Aguirre
Undergraduate Researcher

Hannah is originally from Washington, D.C. She is an undergraduate student currently working towards an Honors in Biochemistry at Northeastern University. In her free time, she loves to ski moguls and bake bread.

Chase Caserta
Undergraduate Researcher

Chase is originally from southern West Virginia. He is a college student studying Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard. He enjoys hiking, traveling, and exploring Boston with friends in his free time.

Jessica Duni
Administrative Coordinator

Jessica joined the Department of Molecular Metabolism in October 2022. She is in her second year MBA at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and photography.

Fiona Fitzpatrick, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow

Fiona is interested in cofactor metabolism and mitochondrial transport, and how alterations in such processes drive diseases such as cancer and neurological disorders. She worked at the Structural Genomic Consortium at Oxford before completing her doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge.

Gabriela Ramírez Hernández, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow

Gabriela is interested in the metabolism and dysfunction of pancreatic b-cells during diabetes. She completed her master in Neurobiology and PhD in Biomedical Science at the National University of Mexico (UNAM). She enjoys dancing and swimming.  

Byungsoo Kong, PhD
Research Associate

Byungsoo is interested in metabolism and mitochondrial transport in diseases such as type 1 and type 2 diabetes. He completed his doctoral studies at Yonsei University and worked at Seoul National University Hospital as a research assistant professor. Byungsoo is recipient of a National Research Foundation grant through the Ministry of Science, South Korea.

Su Yeon Song
Undergraduate Researcher

Su Yeon is originally from Maryland. She is an undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry with Honors and minoring in Mathematics and Biology. She enjoys traveling, painting, and reading outside of the lab.

Sijie Tan, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow

Sijie is from Singapore and received her Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University. She will be in the Kory Lab for two years as part of the A*STAR International Fellowship program. She is interested in understanding the pathobiology of age-related brain disorders and spends her free time reading.

Aparna Vijayakumar
Research Assistant

Aparna completed her bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from India and is currently a graduate student at Northeastern University working towards a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. She spends her free time swimming, cycling, and hiking.
